Designer: Glenn MartensInspiration: The designer always starts with clothes, giving himself new challenges every season. For next winter, he focusses on opulence through imposing constructions, XXL pleats and extravagant volumes.Collection: A collection composed of the basics all reinterpreted by the designer. We find sleeves that finish as a shawl or cape, duplicating coats and shirts and drapes on velvet tops and dresses. A lot of faux leather worked through a braiding of colours on a coat and wide skirt. We see many skin-tight dresses with turtlenecks at the beginning and more couture dresses towards the end of the show with volumes and effects on sleeves as well as a play on pleats, demonstrating the designer’s meticulous techniques.Note: Imposing jewellery especially the bodies adorned with necklaces and earrings.Interview with Glenn Martens:Each piece has a constructive challenge, we are the only brand to have made a collection in 6 weeks, and every part was made in our ateliers. The construction was a big challenge and everything was based on that, it’s how you can adapt and change it.We have only used faux leather by principle. I don’t think there is any need to kill animals to make clothes or fashionable items.Music from the show (for use only in context of the show, under cover of the right to information).
