Artistic director: virgil ablohlocation: in the palais royale gardens, a long rainbow catwalk, only the first few rows sat, with the louis vuitton personnel standing, all wearing t-shirts in the colours of the collection.in the front row, next to the arnault family, celebrities came in droves: kanye west, kim kardashian, rihanna, rita ora, a$ap rockey, lil pump, naomi campbell, bella hadid, kim jones and kris van assche… collection: 56 looks presented for this first collection at louis vuitton, beginning with shades of white, beige and taupe (virgil’s favourite colour) defining a new elegance. tailoring with loose, comfortable proportions in monogrammed cotton, tone on tone, a play on transparency for parkas or an organza t-shirt. strapped leather gilets are worn on top of t-shirts, other have multiple pockets, becoming protective. fluorescent colours and tie-dye are reinterpreted and come into play with the arrival of deeper and deeper colours, including a piercing red. the wizard of oz and his heroine dorothy in a poppy field appear embroidered on a jacket and printed on a sweatshirt. until the last model, a silver cape that could transport us to another world. the accessories: tone on tone baggage, the bags notably the ‘keepall’ are transparent, in several colours, the belts with many pockets, the backpacks and bum bags tone on tone, often accompanied by huge chains. to note: the lv monogram appearing in jacquard, embroidered, on a t-shirt, jumper or in colours on the back of a jacket. the jewellery with charm bracelets, and initialled trainers& the gloves matching the colours of the accessories& without forgetting the wave from virgil abloh who was moved to tearstakashi murakami: this a completely emotional moment, everyone’s crying, and i’m watching it next to kanye and virgil and oh my god… he came to my studio for the first time with kanye, over 15 years ago that’s why everything is emotional. lil pump: the show was ‘oui oui, oui oui,’ very ‘oui oui’ naomi campbell: it was amazing, very beautiful, stunning. rita ora: fantastic, refreshing, amazing, wearable, just the coolest shit ever. fantastique, rafraîchissant, incroyable, portable, tout simplement la collection la plus formidable. music from the show (for use only in context of the show, under cover of the right to information)
