Designer: delphine ninouslocation: the crypt of a church in central londoninspiration: edith "jackie" ronne, first woman journalist & historian from an expedition in antarcticafocus: parkas using snowy colours, colours of nature too with a mix of fur & leather, accompanied by more urban pieces like the jumpsuit in knit or in leather, leather pleated skirts, the teddy in silknote: liv tyler, ambassador of the belstaff brand, unveiled the film made for this occasion & is launching a capsule collection with belstaff for septemberinterviews from delphine ninous & liv tylerdelphine ninous:i love belstaff to be inspired by adventurous and pioneering women. i was inspired by the first woman who left for the antarctic in 1947 called jackie edith ronne. so suddenly it was this whole idea of mixing the eskimo, south pole, idea with the belstaff heritage. there is a motorbike side but it is quite motocross like, quite graphic, very black and red making this side modern and then there’s this more eskimo influence with furs and mixtures of patchwork.the jumpsuit is also something that is completely in the belstaff heritage, from the biker to the aviator jumpsuit. belstaff has really drawn its sources for the belstaff woman from amelia earhart who was a flyer in the 30s, so jumpsuits are something that i like reworking from season to season. liv tyler and i are going to do advertisements and short films on the internet and make a capsule collection.liv tyler:when they asked me to work with them this time, the one thing i asked them was if could i design a capsule collection, because i had always wanted to be able to do that.“falling up” is a short film that we made, and one of the people that we work with, creatively came up with the idea of us honouring and taking on the role of amelia earhart, who was a belstaff woman, and a very amazing and interesting woman, so we made this short film to represent this idea. music of the show, (donot reuse for more than 7 days after the show)
