Alexander McQueen Show- Women's Collection Autumn/Winter 2018/19 in Paris

Artistic Director: Sarah BurtonInspiration: a collection entitled ‘Metamorphosis’, one of the predilections of Lee Alexander McQueen, revisited with poetry and sensuality for Autumn/Winter 2018 by Sarah Burton. Blending nature and beauty, transformation and renewal, evoking butterflies and beetles with both strength and softness. Collection: from the very first outfit, the McQueen-style tailoring takes us into a new dimension, with this ensemble worn perfectly by Binx Walton, comprised of a jacket with exaggerated hips and shoulders, and a piece of fabric at the back to create movement. We quickly pick up on how adaptable and transformable pieces are at the heart of this collection, with blousons that open in multiple places, leathers worked for a perfecto style jacket, with many fastenings and straps. The masculine striped shirt becomes a winged dress, a jacket ends in lace, and a coat seems to finish as a scarf as worn by Stella Tennant. Dresses behave as bows, draped, cape effects turn into incredible sheath dresses with long fringing… the butterfly is about to be born, becoming voluminous, with wings appearing at the back of a dress or a jacket. To note: trainers worn with suits, the new zipped ankle boots, two-toned, the belted corsets and the casting on the catwalk, girls of all ages including Stella Tennant and Liya Kebede.
